Lifestyle support to a few young men with ASD

I provided care, supervision and support for people with disabilities in their home, residential establishments and hospitals. I also worked with other health professionals to maximise our clients’ physical and mental wellbeing. I also provided companionship and emotional support, and when possible promoted independence and community participation.As a Disability Support Workers I performed the following tasks for my clients:• assisted people with medication• helped implement care plans• provided in-home support with health issues and daily living tasks such as washing, dressing, eating, transport and budgeting• assisted with activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development • ensure that those in their care my presented well and were ready for their arranged activities• assisted in eating meals and showering• provide engaged companionship and support during daily activities• cooked and serve meals, cleaned premises, washed, ironed and performed other household tasks• work with a team of health professionals, family, friends and carers to implement an effective programme of support.Specialisation.
