Rubicon is a consulting firm advising boat owners on various aspects of yacht ownership including owner's representation, purchase decisions, new build/refit projects, and ongoing operational management. Our specialties lie in the complex programs, including expedition cruising, tandem operations, and extreme towing configurations. Our philosophy is to operate a fully transparent business with brutal truth that is not financially incentivized by how much or where our clients' money is spent. Our sole purpose is to provide unbiased guidance to a yacht owner backed by 20 years of hands-on extreme cruising experience in order to optimize the use of their asset and make their boat run as efficiently as possible.

Captain John Crupi has been apart of the Dorothea/Post One program under the same ownership for 20 years. His knowledge and experience have guided the program around the world several times averaging 15,000 - 20,000 miles per year, having visited over 70 countries and 6 continents.Fishing has also been the focal point of the program and for the first 15 years Captain Crupi towed various boats around the world (including ocean crossings) ranging in size from 30 - 45 feet. In 2018 a new boat was introduced - a Hatteras 63 GT that was designed to run in tandem with the mothership, a 147’ Cheoy Lee, Dorothea III.Just as comfortable in the shipyard as he is at the helm, Crupi has also spearheaded several major refit / rebuild projects. Having started his career in boating nearly 30 years ago, with Hatteras Yachts, in his hometown of Stuart, Florida, Crupi has been involved with boats, the ocean and fishing his entire life.Humanitarian efforts and giving back to the communities he visited has always been part of the program. For nearly two decades Captain and crew have been first responders after hurricanes wreaked havoc on island nations, hosted a variety of drives and fundraisers including providing water filtration systems, clothing and school supplies, as well as supplying sporting equipment and guidance counseling / teaching programs in areas of the world that need it most.
