I retired from the professional fire service in June 2015, after nearly twenty-eight years of serving members of the community during their time of need. Twenty-five of those years were spent with the Sun City Fire Department here in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Throughout my career I was blessed with many opportunities to enhance my skill level, and the level of service that I was able to deliver to those in need. While I was honored to serve the public during their time of need, I felt an even greater calling to provide assistance to my brother and sister firefighters, and help them achieve their professional and personal goals, through mentoring and educating.Throughout my career I realized the importance of education, and ultimately returned to school to complete my degree(s) at the age of forty. I had a passion for fitness and wellness, and decided to pursue this education path, ultimately receiving my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Health and Fitness, and Exercise Science. For nearly two decades I had the honor of serving as the Health and Fitness Coordinator for the Sun City Fire and Medical Department; leading a team of certified fitness trainers, who collectively helped to optimize the performance of their fellow firefighters, and optimize the Department's ROI.In May 2021, I attended the Boulder Crest Foundation's Warrior PATHH program after battling with the traumas associated with a long career in the fire service. Warrior PATHH focuses on PTG (post-traumatic growth), and is offered free of charge to combat veterans and first-responders. I am also currently serving as a member of the Executive Board for Mission2Alpha, an Arizona-based 501(c)3 whose mission is to raise awareness and financial assistance for members of our military, veteran, and first responder communities, during their time of need.
