Prior to becoming part of ABB Power Consulting, I was with the substation design group involved in the design of the Rapid City HVDC back-to-back tie and several wind park collector substations. Earlier, I was the US project manager and a project engineer for the development of power electronic building blocks in cooperation with the US Office of Naval Research and ABB Drives in Turgi, Switzerland. My primary focus was on electromagnetic transients, but I also performed investigations on other miscellaneous areas such as subsynchronous torsional interactions. I performed research on the voltage and frequency dependent characteristics of window type air-conditioners and assisted in the development of associated models for use in dynamic studies. For two years, I was the instructor for the semester long Lightning Performance of Transmission Lines course that was part of GE's Power System Engineering Course. The first year, I was selected as best instructor by the students, and the second best instructor in my second year. My responsibilities at Shell Offshore included performing various engineering functions for the maintenance and operation of several offshore oil production platforms in the US waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
