Orthopedic Trauma Unit- Assess patient vital signs throughout the day, post-surgery, and in response to medication. Report any abnormal signs to the nurse.- Draw blood for labs.- Help to ambulate patients after surgery, as movement is critical for the healing process of orthopedic injuries.- Assist with activities of daily living, such as assisting a sick/injured patient in using the restroom.

FSU Laboratory of Integrative Vascular and Metabolic Physiology- Assist Dr. Paul Baker in his study of the relationship between creatine and cardiovascular/cardiometabolic health under the guidance of lab director Dr. Robert Hickner.- Observe and assist with the innovative microdialysis procedure.- Complete various tasks ranging from taking a blood glucose reading using a finger stick, to measuring reactive oxygen species (ROS) using a fluorometer, to separating plasma from blood using a centrifuge, to analyzing heart rate variability with EKG leads and pulse wave analysis with our SphygmoCor machine.- Assist with data analysis on Excel and SAS software.- Created and presented a research poster about the study at the 2023 UROP symposium and will present another poster at the 2024 President’s Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence.- Earned the Steve Madden Undergraduate Research Award through Florida State’s IDEA Grant program, a $3000 grant to fund a summer research project.
