Dr John F. Smith has over 30 years’ experience of transport architecture & planning. He has held leadership & advisory roles on metro projects in the UK, Europe, Asia & the Middle East. His core expertise is in Station Design & Urban Integration. Dr Smith provides Advisory Services to government authorities: Dubai Roads & Transport Authority, Metro Jeddah, Qatar Railways, Ireland’s Railway Procurement Agency & the Swedish Transport Administration. Other areas of expertise include Masterplanning & Transport Oriented Development, Transport Research & Design Standards. He has also worked on airport design. He is an RIBA Client Adviser, an Expert Adviser with Crossrail International, & a member of Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s Expert Panel.He led the architectural teams on the following major projects: Elizabeth Line Paddington Station; Jubilee Line North Greenwich Station; Hong Kong MTR’s Station Improvement Programme; Phase 1 of Singapore MRT’s Circle Line; Ireland’s Metro North & Kildare Route Projects; East London Line Shoreditch High Street Station; Haga Transport Interchange, West Link Project, Gothenburg, Sweden.John studied at the Royal College of Art and the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. He has been an RCA Scholar, Tutor & Fellow, a Visiting Professor at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts, a Visiting Scholar at the Universities of Cambridge & Durham, & at the University of Art & Design Helsinki.
