The theme throughout my career as a professional psychologist has been to help both teams and individuals to get the best out of themselves. I have developed a lengthy history of applying my psychological training to corporate life, working at an individual level with many selection, assessment and coaching assignments, at team and group level with major management development and training initiatives, and also on wider-scale organisational change projects. I have a diverse business client portfolio in industries ranging from global electronics, to civil engineering, financial services, international airlines, and 2 major public sector police forces. Much of this has involved work with people from widely differing cultures and backgrounds.Coaching assignments have included individuals who are undergoing major transitions such as a significant promotion, moving into a prominent leadership position or moving into an especially challenging role. My background in clinical psychology can help me when working with those finding role demands difficult or stressful, or where personal issues interfere with effective work performance. Coaching sessions aim to assist individuals to become more effective at handling specific situations and in improving key relationships. Sometimes they also enable the individual to address underlying issues of personal confidence and more accurate self-appraisal which are essential for delivering best performance.I have also developed a range of client work in the professional sporting world and enjoy applying sports psychology research to real applied problems. I can present from first hand experience in this area since I have worked with professional golfers, tennis players, athletes and at several professional soccer clubs during my career including being appointed as team psychologist for the national squad for a period of two years.
