Since completing my service in the Army's JAG Corp in 1989, I have been an attorney at Robinson Bradshaw in Charlotte. I focus my practice on health care and joint ventures. My transactional health care practice includes assisting hospitals and health systems, physicians and their practices, dialysis providers and dental practices in acquisitions, affiliations, joint ventures and ownership transfers. I also regularly advise clients on compliance and regulatory issues, including the federal Anti-Kickback and Stark laws, self-audits, corrective actions and self-reporting. In addition, I enjoy writing and speaking on these issues and served as a longtime leader of our firm's Health Care Practice Group. I frequently help corporations and limited liability companies in a variety of commercial and corporate matters, including organizational issues, shareholder and operating agreements and significant commercial contracts. As a former co-chair of the firm’s Insurance Practice Group, I also counsel clients on insurance, including negotiating D&O policies and tail coverage, cyber/privacy and brokerage contracts.
