I have been paying my bills through teaching or tutoring since my early 20s. It would be fair to say that I am not very career orientated, but I do enjoy being busy. I am mostly motivated by trying to make a positive impact in the world and have found teaching to be an accessible route towards that. I consider education, and learning in particular to be a life-long pursuit. So I am always seeking to improve my own knowledge and understanding, both of myself and the world around me. I have a particular affinity for comedy and music but also enjoy theatre and the arts. My hobbies range from football to boardgaming and music making. I was quite a radical in my younger days and found a particular affinity with the work and world-view of William Blake. I am a bit more chill these days, have settled down and married, and find myself increasingly in-line with the Epicurean world view and living a pleasant life. I am developing more of an active interest in politics as well, having been quite dismissive of its efficacy previously. I becoming more aware of people and organisations who really are trying to make a positive impact in their communities and coming to appreciate the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors more than I did in the past.
