"R u Serious" is a podcast that launched in 2022 with a mission to "spark conversations for the better" in the wake of the pandemic. Hosted by John Gillon and Joshua Blaine, the show dives into a wide range of social topics, controversial ideas, and personal experiences from our youth, with a vision towards the future. This podcast is more than just discussions—it's the beginning of our long journey in media, front and center. As we always say, "If you don't control your narrative, someone else will."

Class of 2024

n 2023, I had the privilege of serving as a youth mentor in Wayne County through the Detroit Public School Community District, primarily at Golightly School in Detroit. My role involved guiding younger scholars by providing them with academic insights, discussing effective study skills, and fostering open communication. I also helped them understand the importance of these skills for their personal development. Beyond academics, I engaged with the students through sports playtime, allowing us to connect on a more personal level while promoting teamwork and physical activity. It was a rewarding experience that strengthened my leadership and mentoring abilities.

During my time as a Vaccine Ambassador with Wayne State University's School of Medicine, I gained invaluable experience in public health communication. I learned that presenting information effectively is just as crucial as the information itself. Whether speaking to a small group or a large audience, the ability to be multifaceted and universal in delivering messages is key to inspiring and informing others. This role taught me the importance of clear, impactful communication in making a real difference.
