Responsible for managing all of these contract manufacturing relationships and for purchases of over $50M per year for drug substance, drug product, and devices. • Developed the long-term manufacturing strategy for Amylin presented to the Board of Directors. Responsible for clinical plant manufacturing and 30 out of 45 of the company’s total headcount. Company’s burn rate was about $1M per month.• Directed the optimization of pilot plant production resulting in an 82% product yield increase.• Challenged engineering and design companies to consider non-traditional concepts for the first commercial plant design resulting in savings of over $15M from the original estimate.• Developed with polymer Film Company a unique, low oxygen barrier product bag replacing a higher cost, lower quality bag from French supplier.
