About John Hampton

John Hampton is the Chief Engineer for Aircraft Escape System Engineering and Testing at Collins Aerospace. John is known globally as one of only a handful of worldwide experts in ejection seat and aircraft escape system engineering. John, along with the engineering team and the business development team developed a long term business strategy which changed the ejection seat industry and has positioned Collins Aerospace to win future platforms as the leader in ejection seat safety performance. With 10 of 12 platform pursuit wins over the past 5 years including the recent USAF T-7A Trainer Ejection Seat Program and the $700M USAF Next Generation Ejection Seat Program, John continues to lead the teams through multiple million dollar development projects with a strong record of success. Over the last 20 years as a Chief Engineer and Senior Manager, John has led the engineering organization in developing the ACES 5 ejection seat which today is the aerospace ejection seat safety performance benchmark. John continues to lead teams through multiple aircraft platform airworthiness certification programs to the latest MIL-HDBK-516C Change Notice 5 requirements.Previously, John was a lead engineer at Boeing (formally McDonnell Douglas) for crew escape, ejection seat integration, crew systems, inter-seat sequencing, helmet mounted display, canopy removal systems, oxygen systems, flight equipment, and equipment installations for the F/A-18, F-15, AV-8, T-45, and other aircraft. John worked development programs involving ACES, SIIIS, and NACES ejection seats, TLX, electrical, SMDC, and MDC sequencing systems, and fracturing, jettison, and severance canopy removal systems.
