I was a part time Door Dasher, primarily in Roanoke Valley. I got assignments through a smart phone app. Usually I pick up Food from the Restaurant or venue and deliver to the customer at their home or place of work.

I was an Independent Contractor providing Medical Transportation for customers. Using my own vehicle, I pick up customers and transport them to their medical Appointments. I am both CPR and First Aid Certified. I work under the umbrella of VEYO and use their smart phone apps to get my assignments and for record keeping.

I was a full time/part time sporting goods, automotive, and hardware sales associate responsible for providing customer service, running the cash register, and stocking merchandise on shelves. I sold sporting goods, automotive merchandise, hunting and fishing licenses, firearms, and ammunition. I also cut keys and mixed paint. I worked the evening shift and most nights I closed the department. On some days, when needed, I assisted in other departments in the store like electronics and stationery, unloading trucks in receiving, zoning, and running a cash register up front. I was also responsible for checking the returns, up front at customer service, and restocking my departments returns to their correct location.

I was an independent licensed insurance agent working under the umbrella of Amerilife of Clearwater Florida. I would help my clients with planning for the future by introducing them to Final Expense and Life Insurance. Primarily I helped clients with Medicare Health Plans, Medicare Supplements, and Drug Plans.

I designed several residences during these years. I also worked occasionally, when needed, with my late brother, a contractor at Kyle B Harris Construction in Springwood, VA. I mostly produced working drawings for some of his residential projects. I design some of the houses, while others he would give me a sketch of the layout and then I would flesh it out and turn it into working drawings.

Part time Sporting Goods Sales Associate. I also helped prepare the store for its grand opening in January 2011.

I was an Architect with AECOM an Engineering/Architectural/Technology firm with branch offices nationwide. I designed projects, prepared construction documents with AutoCAD and Revit, computer aided design, provided design coordination with other professional disciplines, prepared specifications, and prepared design proposals including both the drawings and design narratives, on some projects I was the Project Architect and others I assisted less experienced design staff with theirs. By doing the specifications or helping with the drawings and detailing. Projects were medium scale and included projects for the military including those for the Navy, Coast Guard, and Army.

I was an Architect with Moseley Architects who prepared construction documents with AutoCAD, provided design coordination with other professional disciplines, prepared specifications, and performed in house construction administration duties. I mostly worked as a part of a team on the projects, providing CAD work, detailing, some architectural design work, and coordination. I worked on projects that were multi million and large scale for the Higher Ed, College University market and the K-12 secondary school market. Most projects were LEED accredited.

I was a Project Architect with SFCS, an Architectural/Engineering/Interiors firm with branch offices scattered along the eastern seaboard. I prepared construction documents with AutoCAD, provided design coordination with other professional disciplines, prepared specifications, and preformed construction administration duties, like reviewing submittals, addressing RFI’s, and going on site visits to construction projects. Also did occasional code work on the projects that I was responsible for. On a few projects I had less experienced design staff helping me with the CAD work. SFCS is a mid-sized firm specializing in Retirement/Seniors, Medical/Healthcare, Institutional, Government, and Educational Facilities. On many projects I was an Architect on a team with other designers producing working drawings.

I was an Architect at HSMM an Engineering/Architectural/Interiors/Scientist design firm. I prepared construction documents with AutoCAD, prepared specifications, cost estimates. I did a code search of the International Building Code, Life Safety Code along with Accessibility Regulations. and design coordination with other professional disciplines for a variety of building types. I also did in-house construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and answering RFI’s. Occasionally I would go to jobsites and do field work and have meetings with team members and clients. The projects that I was involved with at HSMM were mostly for the Corps of Engineers and included projects for the Air Force and Navy, others were new and renovation projects for governmental medical facilities. These projects needed to be produced in the metric system. Other projects were for the educational K-12 market. 2 or 3 of the projects that I was responsible for the federal government were required to be drafted in MicroStation, I would prepare drawings, and sketches to give to the Cad operator who would draft them in MicroStation.

I was a contract employee of the firm. I produced working drawings, using DataCAD version 5.0 software, for a variety of light commercial and residential projects. I also performed a variety of other tasks such as taking field measurements and getting prints made, and placing Radon Detector Canisters in the homes of clients and then picking them back up and sending them off to be analyzed.

I was employed by the firm on a project basis. I was an Architect, who produced the construction documents of the multimillion Health & Services Facility at the Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands, Virginia. The project was produced with DataCAD computer aided design software. I got drafting help from the CAD Technician in the office. I would prepare redlines and sketches for him to use. I did the detailing for the project. I also was the Project Architect for various other smaller residential and commercial projects, producing the working drawings.

I produced projects as an Architectural Designer for a variety of seniors, medical/healthcare, institutional, and education projects. In the early days, I was primarily a draftsperson producing working drawings with plastic lead on mylar. I would primarily work on architectural drawings, but would occasionally work on drawings for the structural, mechanical, and electrical departments. As time went on, I would get more responsibility on projects. The office went onto drawings produced with ink on mylar and the pin bar overlay system. Eventually I was trained in DataCAD computer aided design. In the winter of 1989, I sat for the Architectural Licensing Exam in Richmond, Virginia. I passed all sections on my first try and became a licensed Architect in VA in September 1989.

I was an Intern Architect/Draftsman, who gained experience in the design and preparation of working drawings for light commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Projects were produced with the use of a parallel bar, triangles, and other drafting equipment. and were drawn with pencil on vellum. On the commercial and institutional projects I was a Draftsman drawing plans, sections and details from redlines given to me from the Architect in the office. In the spring the firm was bought by SFCS a larger Architectural Engineering firm also in Roanoke, VA. The entire staff of our firm went to work for SFCS including the principal of our firm.

I worked for my dad, a pre-engineered metal building contractor, during the summers while I attended college. I also believe that I did drafting duties for him when I was in high school. My duties included producing working drawings from sketches given to me by my dad as a draftsman when needed, getting prints made and some estimating. I also worked in the field as a construction worker when needed. One year my dad sent me to Kernersville to attend the Varco Pruden Product and Pricing workshop.
