Supervising and managing are two different tasks. As a supervisor, people and safety must be #1 priorities. I do everything that I can to remove every roadblock that keeps my direct reports from achieving maximum efficiency, potential, and results. I must ensure that my direct reports maintain a low risk tolerance and feel comfortable and encouraged to discuss safety concerns. I must remain approachable and open to concerns and suggestions for improvement. When something goes wrong I will seek to find the root cause of the issue and place fault on the worker only if it is truly warranted after exhausting all other possibilities. When my team succeeds, they get the credit. If my team should fail, I take responsibility.As a manager, I set priorities for both scheduled and corrective maintenance considering the impact on production. Effective preventive maintenance is the most essential element to ensuring that equipment is available to meet production goals. "Right the first time" corrective maintenance and repairs is the second most essential element. I will resort to band-aid fixes and temporary repairs only after careful consideration to the impact on production and such repairs must be tracked so that permanent repairs can be completed at first opportunity.In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, and helping others solve problems with Microsoft Windows.
