Developing and maintaining Bixby voice activation capsules including: CNBC, Gmail, Messages, Yelp, Samsung Health, Google Maps, Spotify, Upday, Date and Time, Samsung Internet, Ticketmaster, YOOX, SmartThings, National Rail, Transport for London, Uber, Skyscanner and the Weather Channel.The bulk of the work involved plugging in third party APIs (see above) using native JavaScript with JSON being passed back to Bixby Views (no CSS or HTML required – very like Siri’s basic dark screens with white text and some images). Some APIs passed back JSON but others returned HTML that needed to be removed and converted into JSON. The JSON is then passed back to Bixby and Bixby converts that into views. The JSON had to conform to Bixby action and view definitions eg each label in the JSON file had to exist in the Bixby definitions.I was part of a large global project, with each locale’s team communicating globally via slack. Basically development was occurring 24 hours a day with teams from all over the world, all with different languages. To make sure everything ran smoothly as possible we used a GIT repository system so that we could work independently as much as possible. Bixby Developer Studio is now open source so I can, if required, develop voice activated capsules for any clients that might wish to have voice activated apps for their customers (but on Samsung phones only).

The application is free to use but if the user wants constant monitoring (via Solr back end) we charge (using PayPal or SagePay). The site includes Google Maps (for post code checker), Twitter (likes), email address validation and secure links for payment. The website has had considerable press coverage.. 2. B2B Fraud application (Java Spring MVC) to enable internal users to run complex queries against our SOLR Fraud database (about 400 million records and growing daily – we currently use 12 shards). These queries retrieve specific information that helps commercial organisations (often large retailers or banks) ascertain if their customer’s details have been compromised. I was involved in all aspects of both applications from design, build, deployment and marketing (google analytics, developing mail shots (incl ongage: https://ongage.com/ ) to pass Hotmail and Gmail “spam” filters and SEO to get our website near the top of Search Engine Lists). I also prototyped a HTML based Android Fraud app using PhoneGap (http://phonegap.com/ )
