Two Pillars Training is dedicated to combining relevant peer-reviewed research with the real world best practices. We teach hands-on firearms training as well as extensive lectures on human performance and criminology.

I have been an instructor for Tom Givens of Rangemaster since 2001. As an instructor, I have traveled the country, teaching numerous handgun, shotgun, rifle, and instructor classes for private citizens, law enforcement, and military personnel. Military units trained include 20th SF Group, USMC High Risk Personnel Course Training Cadre, and Kentucky National Guard Military Police Units.Additionally, I have been a public speaker since 2005. I have been recognized as on authority on The Newhall Massacre and The FBI Miami Firefight. I have presented lectures and "lessons learned" in a variety of national, international, and governmental venues on these events and been interviewed in media appearances.My most recent presentation is an in-depth review of the current body of work regarding human performance under deadly threat. In the past, I have spoken on the dynamics of interactions between criminals and "good guys" and Boyd's OODA loop. I have also conducted live fire firearms training at conferences such as the Indiana SWAT Officer's Assocaion and North East Shooter's Conference.My complete vita is available below.

I have been a Federal Law Enforcement Officer since 1992. I have completed numerous duty assignments including: supervision, uniform patrol, field training, plain clothes details, woodland surveillance, anti-poaching details, high-profile site security assignments, search and rescue, structural fire suppression, and emergency medicine (former Park Medic). In my current position, I supervise the law enforcement operation covering 156 miles of roadway in both urban and rural environments. I supervise six employees and manage a budget of approximately $50,000.I also served a detail as an agency prosecutor handling trials, plea negotiations, discovery, and sentencing recommendations. I was allowed to practice law under the local rules of the Eastern District of California.I have been conducting firearms training my agency since 2002. I was nominated in 2005 for the South East Region’s Outstanding Training Award for development of a long gun transition program which included the creation of a 37 page manual. As part of on-going training, I have developed numerous training sessions including lesson plans, student handouts, and classroom presentations on a variety of topics including: firearms, legal updates, building entry/clearance, use of force, officer survival, downed officer rescue, and criminal behavior.I also served as the Field Training Lead (program manager) for the NPS FTEP Program at the Natchez Trace Parkway. Prior to my selection as FTL, I served as an Field Training Officer from 2004 to 2014. I have completed the second highest number of field training reports of any FTO in the agency.
