Involved in a major two-year project to migrate the company from its 15-yearold legacy messaging systems to a new platform. As sole developer on the project, all thetasks of requirements gathering, design specification and coding were myresponsibility. Written in Perl using object-orientated classes and methods wherepossible, the system was designed to be modular, fully redundant with pairs orpools of servers that all use a DRBD/Linux-HA MySQL database as a central data storeand scalable. It was designed to support all the company’s current requirements with theflexibility to be extended for new products and services with the minimum of effort.Previous projects included:* Re-design and coding of the company website in PHP to connect to a MySQLdatabase for real-time content serving* Specification and coding of an Electronic Post Room service to create PDFinvoices and purchase orders from ASCII data files and to send these via fax andemail to end-user clients. Written in Perl using a MySQL database

Responsibilities included planning and implementing telecom service migration fromfollowing acquisition of Netkonect by Mistral; developing and maintaining Netkonect’sproprietary telecoms billing system; constructing and implementing Call Revenue Sharerates, schemes and products; and day-to-day monitoring and administration of thetelecoms infrastructure.Projects included:* Design and coding of Telecoms Intranet* Major re-architecture and coding of the telecoms billing code* Design and creation of numerous custom call-handling IVR solutions including amobile phone ringtone ordering system and an international calling service* Specification and implementation of a “live-update” telecom service* Use of Perl and Microsoft MapPoint to create geographic traffic analysis toolsOther duties included fulfilling customer contracts for Call Revenue Share products,assisting first-line support team with telecoms-related problems, assisting the sales teamwith telecoms enquiries and customer visits requiring specialist knowledge, liaising withsuppliers and potential suppliers including performing acceptance testing with BT fornew interconnects and ensuring compliance with Ofcom and ICSTIS regulations.
