John is a Research Scientist at Meta Reality Labs working on new wireless technologies for wearable devices. He is currently on leave from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore where he is an Associate Professor with tenure. John received his PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford University in 2015 where he was a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow. He has appeared on the MIT TR35 Innovator Under 35 Asia and Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia lists, and has been recognized by the Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship, Singapore National Academy of Science Young Scientist Award, and NUS Young Researcher Award. John's work has been featured on the covers of top scientific journals such as Nature Electronics, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Methods, and PNAS. His work has also been covered by the media including Scientific American, Reuters, Straits Times, ChannelNewsAsia, South China Morning Post, BBC, NBC, ABC7, Wired, and Forbes.
