I am a proud graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, class of 2019. I graduated with a degree in computer science with a focus in data science. This means that not only am I familiar with software development, but also with databases, data analytics, big data, and machine learning. I often get asked “What is the difference between computer science and data science?” The answer to that question is that anyone can use the black box that is data science - you put information in and get results out. Data science is understanding what happens in the black box as well as being able to interpret the results. Data science also involves using this knowledge along with the data to solve complex problems.
