Trying on some new shoes and they fit pretty good so far. Much of my time is researching state fire sprinkler license requirements. Many states have exams that require study and preparation. After obtaining a state contractors license I need continuing education, updated insurance certificates, bonds, renewal applications, and of course money to the state to maintain the license.My years of involvement with the NFSA E&S committee and several NFPA committee's has really helped me pass many of the state fire protection trade exams. Although I have forgot more than I know there is still so much more to learn.So I have become the qualifier and license holder. For my work family and for the company that I love.

Sadly I did not finish my list of things to do.Very proud that I worked 30 years for WSFP and All the cool people I got to know. Also proud of my 35th Anniversary with my wife Jan. The 30 years was tougher because of some hard projects with a few tough customers. All was good and I made it. 😀

Back to doing what I do. Designing and managing large complex fire protection projects has always been my passion. Special hazards, high rise hospitals, foams systems, tunnel systems, alternative designs, and stuff that has never been done floats my boat.Make it easy for the customer and the fitter while providing quality fire protection and margin appreciation. Developed a corporate training program from scratch. Recruited new engineers and technicians. Provided technical support for over 20 branch offices. Consolidated corporate software and code licenses. Edited and assisted with development of a design manual. Designed an managed several large projects during this period to support branch offices.Gene, Rick, and Jeff provided excellent leadership and direction!

My 1st project for WSFP in 1986 was a 14 story post tension residential project. Every week I was on site for another floor, three sleeves, and a meeting. This led to several large out of state projects including AFFF hangers in Milwaukee, a power plants in North Carolina, a large hospital in Seattle, high speed deluge system in Texas, and many other projects in Denver.The golden era began in1990 with design and management of many portions of DIA including the baggage tunnels, central plant complex, AGTS maintenance facility, main fire house, the parking garages, continental hangar, and pump room. We don't see to many million gallon tanks with 30" supply to (6) 3,500 gpm diesel pumps anymore for hangars. The golden era ended with the design and management of Coors Field, "The home of the Rockies".Since then, all is great but not as Golden. This may be because everything seems to be variations of the same done with software. Who would have thought 25 years ago the majority of our time would be scratching a mouse?

Started teaching skiing in 1975 instead of school sports in 11th grade. Received full PSIA certification while in college teaching at Crested Butte. Also worked at Monarch and Mary Jane. For over 20 years I taught skiing to advanced skiers on my weekends. I was occasionally required to teach beginners and learned patience over the years.

Camp Pendleton, Ca

The USMC was my way to get college funding. In 1976 while in high school I signed up in the delayed entry program to get the GI bill for the minimum 3 years. If 4 years, I could have picked what I wanted to do. Boot camp was 3 months at MCRD, San Diego, CA and I assumed they would make me a grunt. Instead they sent me to files and correspondence school for 1 month because of my test scores. My tour was spent in Southern California at Camp Pandleton. What a trip!
