Requested by Shell to return to my prior position (Supply & Logistics) as a contract employee, to provide experience and knowledge, particularly during hurricane season. In 2008, Hurricane Ike caused huge disruptions to the fuel supply and logistics chain, requiring innovative solutions and rapid efforts across multiple functional areas to keep customers in product. This experience was highly valued in the chance another large storm hit in 2009. Fortunately that was not the case, though I was able to complete significant pieces of project work that had been planned but uncompleted for years due to inadequate time from available staff. I also provided staff vacation relief during this time, as I was able to step in immediately without training due to prior experience.See prior position for specific details of this assignment.

Ensure continual product supply through accurate forecasting of 250M gallons of gasoline demand over 66 terminals monthly, assure accurate contractual product valuations, investigate supply cost optimizations, manage supply/demand balances and disruptions, extensive customer (internal and external) communications and problem solving.

Developed marketing concepts and materials for diesel and biofuels for the US market. Reconcile $1M technology budget. Manage fuels Product Quality Assurance Program. Negotiate diesel fuel sponsorships with racing series (American Le Mans Series), and auto manufacturers (VW Tuoareg diesel US launch, BMW diesel racing effort). Provide materials and talking points for senior executives for Congressional inquiries and marketing rollouts.

Develop pricing strategies, training materials and measurement tools to manage Shell's US gasoline operations. Train US sales staff on pricing methodology. Identify and implement cost savings for competitive price surveys.

Attained or exceeded volume and margin targets each year through active consultation with site operators. Manage receivables and maintenance budget. Conduct sales and training seminars.

Oversaw regulatory compliance activities at 184 Shell retail locations in the San Francisco market area. Manage $1M annual compliance budget. Negotiate violation issues with state and local regulatory agencies. Train site staff on leak detection technology and requirements.
