After much thought and deliberation I’ve decided to retire effective from Monday 2 July 2018. I want to say thank you to the Australia Post Philatelic Group and to the wider corporation. I also want to thank the many external contacts who made my role so interesting and varied.I started full-time at Australia Post on 1 March 1995 having been a contractor for the previous six years prior to that date. I’ve had a wonderful working life at Australia Post with many fabulous memories. The Philatelic team is made up of awesome individuals all of whom have given me their kindness, humour, professional advice and support without exception for all those years. Working in the Philatelic Archives and the Post Master Gallery was an engaging and fulfilling experience. It was very satisfying knowing we were conserving our philatelic history and exhibiting the National Philatelic Collection to the public and in particular to students, the next generation of graphic designers. The challenge of moving into the marketing communications role in 2008 was also an amazing time. I never in million years thought I could put together a media release but with incredible support from the researchers, designers, category, archives and channel, I was able to make my way and establish a degree of confidence in the role. I enjoyed both roles very much. I also enjoyed working with the people throughout the organisation who were very helpful and supportive. I also enjoyed engaging with individuals representing domestic and overseas organisations. Overall I feel very privileged to have been a part of the Philatelic Group.Lastly I wish the Philatelic team the very best and look forward to receiving the Australian Stamp Bulletin showcasing those wonderful new Australian “stampie whampies”! Of course I’ll miss everyone and the well-crafted “office banter” that carried so much wit and humour with it.Best wishes and happy collecting to all, John
