I've enjoyed working on software, robotics and simulations since the late 1980's - both with the manned space program and with our commercial clients.My first job out of college was in the Controls & Analysis department at Spar Aerospace in Toronto where we were designing and building space robotics for the International Space Station. That was also my introduction to simulation development which we needed for robot design and performance verification.In 1997 I transferred to Houston, Texas to support NASA's deployment and build-up of the International Space Station including hardware/software integration at Johnson Space Center, flight systems testing at Kennedy Space Center, Mission Evaluation Room support in Houston's Mission Control Center, and development of simulators for mission analysis and training.METECS (short for MacLean Engineering and Applied Technologies) was founded in 2003 and we initially provided technical expertise to the Engineering Directorate at Johnson Space Center for NASA's Return-to-Flight activities following the break-up of the Space Shuttle Columbia. We soon gathered together some of the best talent in the community reflecting years of experience developing tools for mathematical modeling, dynamics analysis, and immersive simulation. Our main customer was the Simulation and Graphics branch of the Automation, Robotics and Simulation Division and they remain one of our biggest customers. I'm humbled by the many significant contributions towards human spaceflight that have been made by our talented staff over the past 15 years. Recently, in addition to our NASA work we have been diversifying by applying our tools and expertise to develop software and immersive training technology for customers in the agriculture, construction, and energy industries. I continually feel honored to work with so many great people.
