I started my career in hospitality over 35 years ago. After graduating from Purdue, I joined Winegardner Hammons and managed full-service Holiday Inns and Radisson hotels over the span of 15 years. I've facilitated the opening of several new hotels and countless renovation projects throughout my career. This includes opening a new Wyndham Garden hotel for Wyndham Hotels, 3 Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Formula Blue properties, for Indiana Hospitality, and oversaw a $4 million PIP while GM of the Holiday Inn and Roberts Convention Center. My most recent role is with Indiana Hospitality Group as Area Director of Operations, with a operational oversight responsibilities for 7 properties. I've been fortunate to manage two properties that earned the IHG Torchbearer award. I believe we tend to make the hotel business too complicated. I've coached and mentored hundreds of new managers and have been coached and mentored by some outstanding leaders. Successful managers all have the same trait............. they are consistently engaged with their team every day, every shift, and they have a plan for each day and stick to it. I teach my managers to operate under 3 key ideologies........... Clean, Friendly, Maintained - Expect What You Inspect - DWYSYWD (do what you say you will do). Pretty simple. Love Your People, Train Them............... Then Get Out of Their Way!
