The professional background of John Marks covers thirty years in Education and Human Resource Management. Graduating in 1985, John taught and coordinated departments in secondary schools for twelve years before establishing and managing an Education Division in 1998. In 1999, John realised that schools needed a better way of accessing teachers who have a passion for the classroom and who possess the ability to ‘make a constructive difference’ and to provide the very best learning opportunities for each and every student. Consequently, John Marks & Associates was established.

John has an established professional network across Independent, Catholic and Government schools. He is committed to the delivery of quality customised services and believes in fostering long-term working relationships with his clients. He is committed to placing quality staff in schools and he has sat on many leadership panels to select Principals and Deputy Principals. John’s ability to understand the client is pivotal to a successful business relationship. He is flexible in style and approach to cater for the significant differences between one organisation and another. John recognises the need to understand and accommodate different customs, etiquette and behaviours.John is regularly asked to present experiential workshops on Leadership and Management, powerful Feedback Mechanisms, Health and Wellbeing, Performance and Development Culture, Staff Selection and Succession Planning. John is a preferred supplier to the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Office and the Queensland Education Leadership Institute. He has also been contracted by the Victorian Educational Leadership Consortium, the Victorian Association of Secondary Schools Principals and the Victorian Primary Principals’ Association, training Educational Leaders. John coaches Principals, Deputy Principals and other educational leaders.John has reviewed over 200 government schools as part of Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s formal school review process since 1997 (reviewing with the Melbourne University team 1997-2007 and with the National Curriculum Services team since then). John has worked closely with independent schools as a RSB and VRQA reviewer, and he is an accredited catholic school reviewer with the Catholic Education Office Melbourne, having reviewed over 80 Catholic primary, secondary and P-12 Colleges since 2006.John is Deputy Chair of a F-12 School Board.
