For businesses with transformational potential in poor countries in in sectors such as digital education and health services, telecommunications, energy, and agriculture, opportunities for growth lie in aligning considerations of impact with existing assets like customer bases, distribution channels, business structures and footprints, government relationships and competitive position in the market. IV helped ideate new commercial business cases that solved development challenges like access to eLearning services, access to energy, or delivering work and income opportunities for the poor. To be viable, these business ideas must create a business reason for C-suite executives including the CFO to commit the organisation to invest, while at the same time promise new and sustained impact and change in critical areas of social and environmental progress.Inclusiv Ventures' special capability was in bringing together unconventional partners in ways that bring value to all. A compelling business case would be built on commercial collaborations between business and NGOs that brings value by aligning assets, capabilities, and capital from the partnership and delivering on the objectives of all. Despite a healthy pipeline of prospective business partnerships and projects, IV was closed in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as business travel was curtailed and face to face engagement with partners and was not possible. Face to face activity is crucial to establish trust in new innovative partnerships, especially in developing countries. At Net Balance I worked with donors and businesses to advance the concept of development impact bonds and payment-for-results financing approaches as a model for business for to be a partner in international aid delivery.

Consultant Advisor to The German Development Organisation in their Siem Reap Regional Economic 'Greenbelt' Project. Work includes analysis and advisory support to government and private sector stakeholders in the development of a new bamboo industry strategy.

We carried out international marketing campaigns, managed a pipeline of investors and provided a suite of business support services to those investors including technology transfer, finance and business planning advisory, matchmaking, and supply chain support to enable investment in new progressive businesses. PI worked across a range of market sectors including biofuels and energy, bamboo, tourism, coconuts, tea and others. At Oxfam Hong Kong, I was the Country Representative and led the team to deliver agriculture, small scale infrastructure, disaster management and market development projects to the poorest communities in Vietnam and Laos.

At Concern I led the team designing and delivering a range of agricultural, market development, and disaster response projects. I led fundraising which raised $5M enabling an expanded project portfolio, new strategy and team growth from 4 to permanent 30 staff.

During my time as an environmental engineering lecturer and my PhD Candidature, I worked on various medium to long term consultancies as an environmental specialist or humanitarian project manager including Nauru (AusAID - environmental specialist), Papua New Guinea (UNHCR - humanitarian project manager), South Africa (Development Bank of Southern Africa - environmental specialist; AusAID - environmental specialist), Australia (RedR - trainer of humanitarian workers).

My responsibilities included teaching, research and consultancies in environmental engineering including the areas of surface and groundwater hydrology, contaminated land, landfill and waste management, water quality, and environmental impact assessment. I was also involved in curriculum development for the new school of environmental engineering at Griffith University.

I was the junior environmental engineer on a range of environmental engineering projects including contaminated land clean up, mine site tailings projects, pollution assessments, and EIA studies.
