I am a freelance Registered UK Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Trade Mark Attorney. I run JMIP Ltd, a company which specialises in providing Patent Attorney services in the chemical sector. Through JMIP Ltd I can help you with overflow patent work, sickness and maternity cover, either remotely or at your offices. I particularly enjoy drafting, prosecution and freedom to operate work. My background is as follows: after qualifying as a UK Registered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney in 1992, I moved up through the ranks to become Head of Intellectual Property Group for Avecia Limited and then FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants Limited ("FFIC"). At Avecia I was heavily involved in IP aspects of divestments, including IP splitting, ownership transfers and licensing. At FFIC I mostly performed the practical, day-to-day aspects of patent work such as drafting, filing, prosecution and opinion work. After 30 years service I left FFIC and formed JMIP Ltd.
In addition to my work activities, I have been a tutor for Centre d'Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle since about 1995, teaching European Patent Law in the UK, France and Italy. I also rather enjoy fell running.
