The goal of SSP-NJ is to encourage New Jersey’s self-directed deaf-blind adults to participate actively in the communities where they live and work. A Support Service Provider (SSP) provides visual and environmental information, human guide services and access to information so that a deaf-blind individual is empowered to make his or her own informed decisions.

Mission:to keep people alive and safe, to help them through crises, and to connect them with relevant community resources.Vision: a world free of sexual violence and suicide, a world that promotes healthy self-care and healthy relationships, and a world that offers a connection for people to seek help and resources.

Train all staff from administration to front-line staff. Areas of instruction involves 'hard skills' (technical use of the computer-based client data tracking system, policy and procedures) and 'soft skills' (team building, interviewing skills, coaching skills, etc.). Participated in developing web-based training (tutorials) for the Division of Social Services and Division of State Service Centers

Monitor daily activities of dually-diagnosed (Mentally Ill/Developmentally Delayed) former residents of Ancora State Hospital in New Jersey. Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Habilitation Plans (IHPs). Assist consumers in completing household chores (laundry, meal preparation, housecleaning, shopping) as well as oversee the administering of clients' prescription medications.

Determined eligibility for Cash Assistance, Food Stamps, Medicaid and other programs. These included; Disabled Children, Adult Poverty, Pregnant Women and Children, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Medicaid, Work Transition Medicaid and other medical assistance programs. Assessed client needs and referred them to appropriate services to help them move toward self-sufficiency.

Monitored and cared for six mentally challenged men in a residential setting. Assisted consumers in completing household chores (laundry, meal preparation, housecleaning, shopping) as well as monitor client intake of prescription medications. Conducted activities as required by resident's Individualized Habilitation Plans (IHPs).

Worked with mentally challenged men and women to develop work skills and adult daily living skills. Implemented plans developed by contracted speech, occupational and physical therapists.
