As a member of the Executive leadership team, Mr. McCrae plays a significant role in developing, articulating and implementing the organization's financial and operational strategies. The Trustees was founded in 1891 and is a complex organization with the parent entity, three affiliated organizations, four trusts, and a renewable energy division consisting of a C corp and two limited partnerships. Mr. McCrae is an officer of The Trustees and also serves as Vice President, Treasurer and Director of TTOR Sustainable Energy Corp. The Trustees has a $28MM annual operating budget, over 800 year-round and seasonal employees, and more than 260 buildings and structures (over half a million square feet) including several historic landmark and historical register buildings. The organization operates an array of enterprises; from inns and function rental venues; campgrounds; beaches; a dairy farm with value-added facility producing cheese, yogurt and butter; community supported agriculture (CSA's); gift shops and more. Mr. McCrae also oversees human resources, information technology and structural resources.

Salem Massachusetts

Mr. McCrae directed the activities of 10 staff in the areas of finance, information technology and administrative systems and was a member of the Executive Team reporting to the Deputy Director/COO. He led the core areas of audit,budgeting, financial reporting, banking and investments, risk management, tax-exempt bonds and business modeling. Special projects included the creation of a long-range financial model integrating a fundraising plan developed by an outside consultant; terminating a frozen and underfunded defined benefit pension plan; and implementing a web-based endowment application for managing the unitization, spending rate calculation and restrictions for 190 endowment funds (over $200 million in market value).

Beverly Massachusetts

Directed the accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, taxes and human resources for this outstanding land conservation and historic preservation organization. Also responsible for developing and maintaining all IT functions with outside support.The organizational structure also included the activities of the supporting affiliate, Massachusetts Land Conservation Trust.

Boston Massachusetts

Directed the accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, taxes and human resources for four nonprofit entities in the performing arts industry, as follows:The Wang Center for the Performing Arts, Inc.Wang Theater, Inc.Tremont Theater, Inc.Tremont Production. Inc.Provided financial analysis in support of negotiations with several theater unions representing over 1,000 employees. Monitored ongoing compliance with the collective bargaining agreements.

Coordinated all aspects of audit engagements including supervision of personnel, reporting to internal and client management, financial statement and tax return preparation. Client base consisted mostly of nonprofit organizations and governmental entities.

Conducted audits of a variety of nonprofit and for-profit entities, including preparation of financial statements and tax returns. Client base ranged from small (special districts) to large (colleges/universities) nonprofits, and small (metal fabricator) to large (global real estate and international franchising) commercial enterprises.
