I have long been a passionate advocate of craft beer, cider, fine wines, and quality spirits as well as the industry around them. Over the past several years I have worked to build my experience and knowledge of these products in hopes of joining the exciting and inspiring community of professionals around them.I started working in the retail section of this industry while living in Orlando, and quickly learned that the relationships you forge and the knowledge and helpfulness you exhibit have a profound impact on the success you have promoting a product. Customers and coworkers alike sought me out, not just because of my knowledge but because of my ability to generate interest and excitement about the available products. I did this by combining an attentive and engaging communication style with a genuine passion for and knowledge of the beer, cider, spirits, and wine I sold. I continued to expand and develop my customer service and communication skills to the unique demands of on-premise work as a bartender at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville, NC. Whether knowing the preferences and tastes of cherished bar regulars, exploring the vast tap and bottle list with guests who had never tried craft beer, or providing service and guidance to all guests in between, I approached every interaction with enthusiasm and amicability. I have continued to develop my knowledge and expertise through on the job interactions with coworkers, distributors, and brewery reps, as well as through independent study in the Cicerone program and its associated curriculum and the Gallo Wine Academy. I earned my level one certification with Cicerone and have worked diligently toward their level two certification. I believe that the skills and knowledge I have developed both within and outside of the workplace combined with my excitement and passion for the wonderful beverages this industry produces will be a considerable benefit to any company I work for.
