Software Systems Support for Digital Document Systems.

Performed various pre-press tasks in an extremely time sensitive production environment on a wide range of products with an assortment of clients from ad agencies to sales professionals. Responsible for pre-flighting customer supplied files for in-house commercial offset print production, die-cutting and mailing. Checked files for correct color gamut, bleeds, Pantone color breaks and font usage. Made copy edits, design alterations, color corrections and sizing adjustments as necessary. Trapped files for proper registration on press, produced color calibrated proofs and digital blue lines for client approval. Created imposition layouts to make best use of available press sheet size across multiple press forms and varying bindery specifications. Experience with both Creo/Sitex Brisque and Kodak Prinergy PDF Workflow systems and solutions. Established a DLT tape backup and archive system that allowed for instant recovery of any job, file, image or font from a previous press run.

Managed a well rounded team of four Graphic Artists plus one Senior Designer in the production of all marketing support materials for the nation’s fifth largest cruise line. Checked all color-key matchprints and performed on-site press checks/color approvals. Established a revolutionary PDF-based workflow which allowed for a completely in-house proofing environment that resulted in reducing production costs by over 1 million dollars by eliminating the need for any costly outside vendor supplied services. Cataloged over 4,000 individual media assets and made them available to 500 marketing partners throughout the world via an customized internet portal. Purchased, developed and maintained a seven workstation, two server Macintosh computer network utilizing several high capacity RAID drives with an integrated AIT tape backup/emergency disaster recovery system. Organized and participated in commercial photo shoots in such foreign locals as French Polynesia and Thailand.

Designed and prepared various promotional materials based on input from a team of Marketing Coordinators and Brand Directors in establishing the look and feel of multiple projects. Designed logos, maps, deck plans, tour guides, catalogs, booklets, mailers, postcards, billboards, web banners and other marketing/sales tools for both travel agents and direct cruise buyers. Responsible for creating templates to facilitate the ease of last minutes changes and consistent corporate image branding during a period of rapid company expansion. Established a foolproof checking system to ensure accurate file output to reduce costly errors and accelerate print turn-around times. Researched stock photo libraries and negotiated the purchase and usage of thousands of individual images.

Designed and typeset corporate identity packages consisting of business cards, letterheads, envelopes, newsletters and other similar materials. Operated various presses and bindery equipment such as folders, inserters and cutters in addition to halftone cameras and plate frames. Sold forms and stationery goods to established customers through basic account management and follow up sales calls. Gathered the information necessary to quote on prospective jobs. Worked closely with Post Office regulations on the design and distribution of bulk-rate and first-class mail pieces. Performed mail-merge operations on large ASCII databases for ZIP+4 mail discounts. Developed a job ticketing and tracking system for in house and outsourced projects.

Designed and produced sales support materials for a nation-wide real estate marketing firm. Created and organized photos, logos, maps and other artwork for multiple clients. Established a Macintosh based network with five workstations and one server for file and print serving, plus daily backup and remote linking to two off-site locations. Converted daily operations from the traditional paste-up, dark room photography and manual film stripping system to a state-of-the-art digital, automated press-ready imposition workflow. Doubled job production in each year of employment with no staffing increases. Installed and maintained advanced prepress equipment including a Crossfield drum scanner and two AGFA Imagesetter RIP devices.
