I am currently working as the Chief Strategy Officer at the Crossley Heath School. I have also recently started mentoring a bursar at an independent school. Since starting my business consultancy work just over a year ago I have worked on two confidential projects as a sole adviser. The first was for a security group and was for 8 months. Whilst the second was in the education sector for 2 months. Both jobs were highly confidential and cannot be described in detail here. In general terms both pieces of work could be described as guiding and advising the boards who were in a crisis situation. Both organisations are back on track now and are willing to provide references accordingly.The other strand of my work is that I have recently successfully completed my training and am available for ISBA Mentor assignments. As part of ISBA’s ongoing commitment to support independent schools, they proudly announced the launch of their mentor scheme a couple of months ago. The mentors come with extensive industry experience and can help bursars and other senior management in schools navigate their roles.I have nearly 20 years' of experience at senior board level in the UK independent education sector, with roles including Director of Finance & Estates and Bursar.Prior to that I had almost 20 years’ experience in accountancy private practice, including 6 years where I operated my own management consultancy business. I am a qualified chartered accountant with an active membership.As you would expect, I have close links both within the independent schools sector and the private accountancy and business sectors. Those links include business owners, existing bursars and heads, insurance brokers, catering consultants and contractors, architects, bankers, solicitors and accountants.My areas of expertise are in leadership, strategic planning, general senior management, corporate finance and project management both in estates and in general.I am a voluntary trustee of an educational grant making charity which provides means tested bursary awards to independent school pupils.
