Manufacturing And Aerospace Engineering Aide
-Worked with members of the VS06 team to calculate methods toward eliminating acrylic imperfections. Also created presentations that were shown at daily team meetings and suggested corrected action plans for largest sources of imperfections.-Designed tools for gasket installation to ensure consistent drill holes and developed techniques of lighting inspection employed by operators on the manufacturing floor. New/improved designs positively affected machining, heating and cooling, and inspection processes. Outlined the engineering notes as well as change in the list of materials that went along with the designs. -Applied Lean Six Sigma principles onto VS06 floor by incorporating priority management of parts as they moved along the value stream through mapping and updating different stages in the process to identify locations of lean inefficiencies to improve upon the VS06 Value Stream -Created and implemented a system for machine auto/live method to collect, convert and display data into a readable electronic form. This system improved upon a former method of having operators write each sheet grade by hand and gave safer digital sheet tractability. -Reduced monthly value stream scrap through analytic research and auditing process flow of manufacturing. Applied root cause analysis in the formation and cooling of the acrylic processes that would produce high frequency defects and took corrective actions to prevent additional scrap-Led the development and implementation of two designs to improve the inspections of acrylic sheets. The first design aimed at immediate mechanical application while the second designed to mechanize the initial sheet inspection process for operators to use for the JSF/PCW programs. New designs aimed to speed up the time of inspection and increase the spotting of abnormalities and defects in the acrylic.
