In this newly created role, I was responsible for increasing the brand awareness and reputation of some of New Zealand’s largest construction projects such as the City Rail Link and the delivery of a new electric train fleet for Auckland. I worked across the organisation, and with the federal agencies to ensure that Aucklanders and the rest of the country had a clear understanding of what was being delivered on their behalf. - Responsible for the communication strategy across the multi-organisation projects- Reviewed proposals from external communication contractors to assist on the project- Conducted Customer Experience assessments to assist with the developing communications strategies- Create monthly updates for the Auckland Transport Board and Federal Government- Liaison for the projects with Local and Federal Government stakeholders- Developed processes to ensure these organisations were delivering the best communication outcomes for Auckland Transport’s customers- Worked closely with other business units within Auckland Transport to achieve mode shift targets within communities within the construction zone. - Operated as the Auckland Transport representative at Community and Business meetings.

As Media Advisor, I worked to ensure the reputation of Auckland Transport was maintained. Working closely with both local and national media outlets to continue the story of how Auckland Transport was involved in the city’s future and how that related to the strategic goals set by City Council.During this time, I also continued to lead the Social Media team, working with them to monitor our channels for any potential reputational risk and create proactive responses.- Ensuring that all media queries were responded to in a timely and efficient manner- Managing the relationship between Auckland Transport and media outlets- Working closely with the Chief Executive and other senior managers when needed- Organised events for frequent media events- Worked as the Media Advisor for Public Transport - being the ‘go to’ person for our three main modes of transit and the relevant projects/queries- Delivered new media strategies for large project rollouts- Led the creation of stakeholder and response matrixes- Represented Auckland Transport on the Auckland Emergency Communications team- Increased the positive media sentiment from 32% to 64% during those eight months

This role was the head of the social media team at Auckland Transport, managing six main social pages and half a million followers. This included managing a team of seven staff in two departments to ensure that customers could reach assistance in a timely manner. Social media is an integral communications tool for Auckland Transport, to help provide information on service changes, urgent updates and the promotion of ongoing projects.- Working with our marketing team to review proposals for large social media campaigns- Created a knowledge base and response matrix for common questions- Led the production of both proactive and reactive content for our followers.- Providing strategic advice for business units with the organisation- Promoted consultations and community input for major projects- Working closely with the Auckland Transport operations team to help manage any developing/emergency situations- Promoted public transport for large events across the city, and during major road disruption. - During my time in the role, we worked collectively to reduce public negative negative sentiment by 15% and increase the positive sentiment by 7%.

This role supported the development, consultation and introduction of a new bus network across the wider Auckland Region. At the time, this was Auckland Transport’s largest project, affecting all bus users across the city. Responsibilities included managing communications with key stakeholders such as elected members, business associations, schools, and the everyday commuters.- Creating and proofing communications collateral that was distributed city wide.- Creating the social media communication strategies for the bus network roll out.- Organising and running the public information sessions for the bus network changes- Engaging with 110 schools to inform them of the school bus changes, which led to a successful implementation and no school students left behind.
