I lead the Strategic Risk Management (SRM) group, a network of colleagues specialising in assisting Mercer's larger and more sophisticated clients around Europe in navigating areas such as capital allocation, risk management and governance, efficient financing, risk transfer and balance sheet management. Previously I led the Strategic Solutions Group in Ireland's Wealth business, a team of 15-20 colleagues focussed on advising clients on similar themes. From 2009 to 2016, I was part of Mercer's Financial Strategy Group (FSG), a team of 100-150 colleagues that specialised in advising Mercer's largest clients in the pensions and insurance sectors on investment, risk management and risk financing. Key areas of focus for me have been in assisting financial institution clients manage their balance sheet risks in the context of the Basel & Solvency standards, helping corporate and trustee clients design and implement asset backed funding arrangements, the financing of pensions through captive insurance and management of Euro-denominated liabilities through market instruments and insurance technology.

Mercer ICC is an incorporated cell company, established to facilitate the transfer of longevity risk from UK pension schemes directly to the reinsurance market.

Stratford LTC is a thriving community tennis club located in Grosvenor Square in Rathmines, one of just a small handful of clubs in Dublin to maintain grass courts. I was previously its Honorary Secretary (April 2016-April 2017) and remain its Company Secretary.

Course designer and leader on two modules in Quantitative Methods for risk management given to the Executive Masters in Risk Management, covering topics ranging from Probability & Statistics, Portfolio Mathematics, Measures of Risk, Factor Risk Models, Monte Carlo Modelling, Stochastic Calculus, Derivatives Calculus and Option Pricing Models.

Course leader on an Asset Liability Management module within the MSc in Finance program.

Course designer and leader on various modules of the MSc in Investment and Treasury program, including Portfolio Management and Econometrics/Statistics. This involved module design, delivery, exam setting and appraisal. Topics included risk management, quantitative techniques, asset allocation, approaches to managing various asset classes, and structured finance.

Founding principal, focussed on the area of solutions-driven investment, where independent risk-bearing capital was brought into structured risk transfer arrangements aimed at helping financial institution clients manage regulatory capital and accounting issues.

Led newly established financial engineering team, which was responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of investment solutions for clients ranging from pension funds to insurance companies and Irish Life's retail and corporate business operations. Previously was part of fixed income team where I developed a number of models for adding value to client portfolios, while also managing a number of key funds. Initial years in ILIM were as part of the quant team, where I developed numerous models designed to manage risk, actively allocate capital and add value using derivatives.
