Mr. Passarella is a construction manager with more than 40 years of experience in bridge and tunnel maintenance and construction and electrical inspection. During his three decades with the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA), he handled a variety of responsibilities and served as senior bridge and tunnel maintainer, superintendent of moveable bridges, and facility maintenance superintendent. Mr. Passarella responsibilities in these capacities also included coordinating with the Engineering and Construction departments from the design stage to construction on major renovation projects for the Cross Bay, Marine Parkway, Verrazano Narrows Bridge and Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) bridges. He has monitored the inspection of demolition, side barriers, safety walks, bearings, pedestals, and drainage. Mr. Passarella is familiar with the installation of new approach slabs, reinforced concrete decks, armored and unarmored deck joints, side barriers, and fencing and roadway scuppers. He has also reviewed and inspected the installation of new bearing pedestals and elastomeric bearings, including bridge jacking operations. Mr. Passarella has contributed to the development of TBTA’s computerized preventive maintenance system and directed safety awareness programs with tool box meetings and safety interventions that reduced lost time and work place injuries and accidents.
