I am responsible for low voltage switch gear design for offshore winches and recovery systems. Designs include hazardous area (ATEX, IECEx), wide range of voltages (380-690vac), hydraulic driven winches as well as all electric. Also I am responsible for any needed PLC/HMI programming. My duties includes: Overseeing shop electricians, troubleshoot and resolve build problems, interfacing with end customer for training and repair of systems, working with 3rd party reviewer/inspectors, providing necessary engineering documentation for the systems, sensor and circuit board design for proprietary solutions. I also work with a team of mechanical and hydrologic engineers from the conceptual stage to the finial testing of complete system and working with vendors to identify and source needed components.

Responsibilities include the designing and building of datalogging equipment used in nearshore research. The dataloggers were designed to collect environmental data including flow patterns, tidal information, wave action, salinity, and turbidity levels. Developed front-end processors for smart sensors using PIC & Rabbit microprocessors. Designed and supervised the installation of a HF RADAR system used to monitor water currents and wave height along the Texas Coast. The system consists of six remote sites located from Galveston Island to Corpus Christi. Communication to the sites was achieved via a diverse methods ranging from satellite Ethernet to spread-spectrum radio. Wrote programs to parse out needed data for sponsors as well as implementing various models (neural net, Krigging) with the data. Wrote programs to graphically display data on the WWW and to manage various logistic aspects of the sites. Designed and implemented remote power systems solar/wind/generator systems.

Responsibilities included setting up the Physics lab equipment, helping students conduct experiments, and grading lab reports.

Maintained and repaired 60 data-loggers that comprising over 650 channels. Supervised sub-contractors with the installation of new data-loggers. Conducted building energy audits, analyzed their energy use and recommended operational changes. Developed a database to track travel reports, data-logger conditions, and channel conditions. Wrote software to analyze the data for broken sensors and to automate the data analysis process. Setup a WWW front end to a locally developed database to graphically report its information.
