Dr. A. John Procopio is an independent consultant for ProCoTraining.Recently he was a permanent part time professor at The George Washington University where he taught courses in Strategic Human Resource Management, Leadership, Change Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Compensation and Training and Development courses to undergraduate and graduate level students.After 32 years of Human Resources experience, Dr. Procopio retired in June 2015 as the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of ITT Exelis, a diversified, global aerospace, defense and information company. He assumed that role upon the company’s October 2011 spin off from ITT Corporation.Recently, Dr. Procopio served as Vice President and Director of Human Resources for ITT Corporation. Prior to that assignment, he was Vice President of Human Resources for ITT Exelis, then called ITT Defense & Information Solutions, since February 2003. Dr. Procopio joined ITT in 1983 in the Training and Development and assumed positions of increasing responsibility before becoming Director of the Total Quality Management group for ITT Automotive. Dr. Procopio was formerly Vice President, Human Resources, for ITT Sheraton Corporation.In 1995, he was promoted to Director, Human Resources and Executive Compensation for ITT Industries, Inc. where he had responsibilities for human resources activities including: executive development, executive compensation, diversity, training and development, policy administration and continuity planning.
