To work within the Payroll Services Team to ensure the delivery and provision of a comprehensive, cost effective and efficient service to STH and other client organisations.​Interpret, verify and input confidential employee information into the integrated Payroll and HR system, ESR – complying with internal and external deadlines, in order to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. To act as the point of contact for both clients and employees to provide technical advice, information and support on highly complex pay issues, terms and conditions and statutory regulations. To be responsible for the processing of an allocated workload within strict time and quality restraints whilst ensuring that correct procedures are followed and that statutory and legislative requirements are applied and maintained.- Be proficient in the manual calculation of gross to net pay for advances and overpayments, providing BACS payments outside the normal pay period as required. Maintaining a register of all overpayments, following the recovery procedure outlined in the Service Level Agreement for each Client and agreeing repayment plans with employees.- Adhere to a multitude of varying and conflicting deadlines and be adaptable in unexpected circumstances.- To use skills of tact and diplomacy in dealing with confrontational / emotionally charged situations. To defuse difficult and volatile situations where staff are highly emotive, antagonistic or even hostile. Frequent indirect exposure to highly distressing and highly emotional circumstances, including communicating unwelcome news to clients. Show compassion when speaking to bereaved family members regarding final salary payments.- Required to make detailed/complex investigations on information and notify relevant departments of any suspected inaccuracies, problems, queries for resolution or elements of potential fraud.
