I chose a life of public service because I believe in using my abilities to make others’ lives better. I now have over twenty-five years of governmental service, most as a manager and leader. In every stop along the way I have been successful at not just accomplishing the mission, but also in improving how the work gets done.Experienced strategic planner with a strength in facilitating large group discussions that lead to useful results. Years of experience in policy development, particularly in Virginia’s legislative process. Twenty years of budget and planning experience- I am the person that challenging assignments and tasks were given to. Complex implementation requiring lots of planning? Those projects were assigned to me and I have consistently shown a track record of delivering results.What kind of results? Taking an idea – let’s look at local school division operations to see if we can improve things and save money – and turning it into over 40 completed studies saving the taxpayers tens of millions of dollar over time. Need someone to measure the financial and administrative performance of Virginia’s institutions of higher education to compare that to the standards they agreed to meet? I did that. Coordinate the statewide fiscal impact statement process for all legislation? Yes. Develop and implement a strategic plan for large, complex organization? Lead that large, complex organization through an accreditation process involving hundreds of standards and measures, each requiring documentation showing evidence of meeting them? I have done that.Presentations to Governor’s Cabinets, legislative committees, state agency boards, local school boards and board of supervisors are part of what I have done and what I can do.
