My name is John Rivera and I'm currently a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, where I'm currently pursuing a degree in Political Science. I'm a recipient of the QuestBridge National College Match Program and have made the Dean's List for all my semesters at this institution. I'm from the island of Puerto Rico and am proficient in Spanish as it is my native language. My previous work experience includes working in the restaurant and supply chain management industry as an independent contractor for Plaza Food System (PFS). My experience is also encompassed by a multitude of roles at WashU, which includes being a mentor under the Deneb STARS program; this position looks to build a community and a web of resources for low-income and first generation college students. My current positions at the university include working as a facility host for its recreational center and serving as an assistant for the Chancellor's Career Fellowship Program, which strives to help 2nd year students in their quests to obtain summer career development opportunities and provides a stipend for expenses related to said opportunities. Regarding experience related to my major, I have expanded my understanding and involvement in government as I had the opportunity to intern for the Office of Legislative Studies as part of the Puerto Rico Congressional Internship Program. I wish to my skills and experience in industries relating to law, government, and public/civil service. However, I am more than capable and willing to work for industries outside of the previously mentioned.
