Duties included:Commissioning and/or troubleshooting on a variety of overhauled or repaired gas and steam turbines, compressors and pumps. The larger equipment includes: GE Frame 3 & 5, Ruston TB5000 and Solar Taurus gas turbines; steam turbines up to 6 MW; Dresser Clark & Sulzer compressors; and various fin-fans, gearboxes, pumps, piping vibration, piping supports. Some jobs included EH&S aspects such as actual or potential fire hazards, oil leaks, release of energy (fan blade detachment).Commissioning duties also included vibration equipment set-up and diagnostics using multi-channel data acquisition equipment: TiePie, Zonicbook, Bently ADRE 3500, 2120. I participated in some field balancing of turbines and centrifugal compressors.I lead and commissioned a considerable safety reduction project at Tirrawarra. My duties included investigation, scope development, project gating and management, contractor engagement and review, HAZOP, management of change, onsite testing, commissioning and acceptance.Troubleshooting and defect elimination for: pump-set seals; centrifugal and gear pumps; fan gearboxes; governor control issues on Steam turbines power generations and pump-sets.Coordinating contracted specialist projects.Creating and leading site based reliability teams to identify and resolve high priority reliability risks (2004-2006).

These experiences developed my personal and people skills, and strengthened my interest in how things work, people, the world and my place in it.
