Employed as a Real Estate Sales Consultant and working with my wife in the Noosa Hinterland area. In five short months, I listed six properties worth over $7.2M, secured four sales contracts worth over $4.4M, and with additional conjunction contracts sold another three properties worth over $2.2M. In total, these sales totalled over $6.6M and brought over $150,000 commission into the office, with two street record prices. I also established over 100 buyer and seller contacts into the business database, conducted many private and open home inspections, several appraisal reports, ran an auction campaign and received outstanding recommendations from all buyers and sellers.

Developed and optimised maintenance strategies for 96 different types of large mining equipment such as CAT trucks, dozers and shovels for a large international mining company. Maintenance strategies and tasks were developed for dominant failure modes using the What, Mechanism and Cause methodology. In total 129,000 rows of Excel data was improved to provide accurate, simple and consistent strategies for the client.

Responsible for leading reliability improvement to improve uptime and capacity in Moomba gas processing plant. • Proactive identification and root cause analysis of reliability risks, including coaching of site staff on using the 5-why investigation technique.• Developed a fit-for-purpose register to capture reliability risks, mitigations, solutions, and quantified the business risk for the first time. The register was later used by other Santos sites. • Developed annual improvement plans. Reported weekly to management.• Supported and stewarded the reliability improvements from multiple internal and external stakeholders, achieving significant risk reduction.• Conducted several root cause investigations on machinery and led a multidiscipline team investigation into the failure of #6 CO2 Regenerator.• Delivered various other engineering support such as compressor surge control testing, compressor performance testing, and commissioning of various equipment.

FIFO roster based role in Moomba. Duties included review and coordination of emergent maintenance work, resolving emergent work issues with supervisors, reporting to the Plant Asset Team Leader. I also played a key role in transitioning this position into new Reliability Engineer and Maintenance Coordinator roles to meet Management’s expectations.

Cooper Basin Operations And Port Bonython, South Australia.

SA Fields and Port Bonython from Oct 04 to Oct 06, and Moomba Plant (FIFO) from Oct 06 to May 09. Duties included:Commissioning and/or troubleshooting on a variety of overhauled or repaired gas and steam turbines, compressors and pumps. The larger equipment includes: GE Frame 3 & 5, Ruston TB5000 and Solar Taurus gas turbines; steam turbines up to 6 MW; Dresser Clark & Sulzer compressors; and various fin-fans, gearboxes, pumps, piping vibration, piping supports. Some jobs included EH&S aspects such as actual or potential fire hazards, oil leaks, release of energy (fan blade detachment).Commissioning duties also included vibration equipment set-up and diagnostics using multi-channel data acquisition equipment: TiePie, Zonicbook, Bently ADRE 3500, 2120. I participated in some field balancing of turbines and centrifugal compressors.I lead and commissioned a considerable safety reduction project at Tirrawarra. My duties included investigation, scope development, project gating and management, contractor engagement and review, HAZOP, management of change, onsite testing, commissioning and acceptance.Troubleshooting and defect elimination for: pump-set seals; centrifugal and gear pumps; fan gearboxes; governor control issues on Steam turbines power generations and pump-sets.Coordinating contracted specialist projects.Creating and leading site based reliability teams to identify and resolve high priority reliability risks (2004-2006).

I obtained Design Engineer authority status for B707 Engines and Airframes in Jul 2003, and AESSO (Aircraft Equipment Support Office) in Mar 2004. My duties included: being a Section Leader of a technical design cell for the Boeing 707 air-to-air refuelling; management of up to 12 technical staff; engineering development and reviews for management of change process; Fleet Manager for Boeing 707 turbine engines and deeper level maintenance program at QANTAS. I participated in commissioning tests for overhauled B707 jet engines, C130H turbo-prop engines and new electronic equipment. Various military, management and secondary duties such as field tactical exercises, military parades, ANZAC Dawn Service representative and secretary of the Officers Mess.

I decided to take a sabbatical in 2002 and solo backpack around the world. Having not had a break from study or work since school, I wanted to experience other cultures, developing countries, aid work, travel, adventure, unknowns, people/communication, and natural and man-made wonders. I volunteered in Thailand teaching English and in Guyana, South America on Community Development projects (see other experiences).Other highlights were learning different languages; meditation training in Thailand; trekking in Nepal to Everest; travelling in India for 3 months and studying yoga; arts, history and culture of western Europe; and the people and Andes in Peru. These experiences developed my personal and people skills, and strengthened my interest in how things work, people, the world and my place in it.
