As CAD Designer in the Advanced Concepts Group we are responsible to propose new product concepts to the Senior Management of BRP. The process involved brainstorming sessions, preliminary feasibility studies, and the preparation of preliminary business cases for the most promising ideas. After a selection process based on the review of each business case, we then proceeded with the fabrication of actual proof-of-concept prototypes.This is a process I really enjoy because it allows every team member to express his own individual creativity, while converging to a common, tangible solution. This started with some very unrestrained thinking sessions followed by systematic analysis and reviews.There was also a very “hands-on” aspect to the position as I spent a lot of time in the shop helping with the actual fabrication of the prototypes.I always found a lot of satisfaction in the opportunity to go full circle with the R&D process, and see a mere idea morph into reality.
