Entrepreneurial from youth, I have almost 50 years experience in various fields, including over 35 years in the natural foods industry. I left high school early, I took a GED and never looked back. I first found my niche in operational management for a number of companies. I spent my late 20's pursuing entrepreneurial ownership in areas from sub-contracting to silk screen printing and graphic arts. In the early 80's I found a role managing a retail natural foods store and fell in love with the industry and what I felt was "right livelihood". In 1990 I joined Twinlab as a field rep, becoming their third most productive rep within one year, out of 35 reps. This was valuable experience, teaching me the manufacturing and distribution end of the industry. I returned to retail in 1994, joining two partners in a startup store. We grew rapidly and 10 years later I purchased the majority of the locations from my partners and pursued sole ownership. I grew those locations to 18 and almost $20 million a year over the next 14 years. During those same years, I also performed some consulting, joined various partners in some startups, and dabbled in real estate. I exited retail natural foods in 2018, when the local market place became a bloodbath and was crushing to my own locations. Within a year later, two of those retailers entered bankruptcy due to the same competitive pressures. Today I am semi-retired. I still do some limited coaching / consulting and am a partner in a US based software development company but left the US and am now now living on a 20-acre property in the Philippines pursuing a simpler "off grid" lifestyle. I'm in the process of writing several books and will be starting a blogging website dedicated to helping others who are pursuing deeper journeys of personal growth. I continue my entrepreneurial streak and seek additional ways to support others on their entrepreneurial paths through coaching and limited angel investing for small independent startups.
