  Supplemental Intsruction is a free resource to any student currently enrolled in one of the few classes we offer our service to. Those classes generally include courses with high failure ratings (Statistics, Biology, pre-college level Math, etc.). As an SI leader for Statistics courses, I attend several class sessions a week, hold scheduled and carefully planned SI sessions for any students who want to attend, and hold office hours daily for extra student assistance, planning, and paperwork. SI sessions are charactized as "facilitated study groups". There is a great deal of statistical evidence showing the advantages of group study. Group studying, especially SI fascilitated, improves grades by maximizing the quality of study time resulting in students performing better on tests while spending fewer hours studying. Since the tutoring center has added this extension, we have seen very positive results by increasing the number of passing grades in our classes and showing significant grade spikes of regular SI attendees.
