I joined the research group Inorganic Nanomaterials where I did research on Zincphosphide nanowire heterostructures with potential application as a material for novel solar cells. The work included growth of nanostructures in a clean room lab, characterisation using both scanning and transmission electron microscopy aswell as elemental analysis using energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. A substantial amount of the work was done independently including planning the research and coming up with the relevant path forward and continually adjusting based on the results. The outcome was deeper knowledge about issues with the growth process and some promising results for the synthesis of Zincphospide/Zincsulphide core-shell nanowires.
