15 years ago I switched my design focus from buildings to gardens. Plants began to fascinate me in ways that buildings never did. I ask my students to imagine what it is to shape an environment that is always in motion and fully alive, that is elemental and complex beyond our comprehension, that fills us with joy and wonder and that provides us with food, medicine, clean air and clean water. I hope that this task captures their imagination, as it has mine, because there are so many gardens to build and there is so much wonder to share. Before I became a garden designer and builder I designed and managed a diverse array of high performance building projects. I facilitated numerous sustainable development guideline projects for institutions, corporations and municipal agencies and taught ecological design to architects.
