My current duties encompass the integration of my Information Technology (IT) experience as well as a variety of business management skills. While maintaining the company’s modest network, I am also involved in budgeting, staffing, forward planning, and the acquisition of a new business software system to aid in scheduling and tracking our labor costs associated with lake and pond management. As a small business, we are constantly looking for continuous improvement methods and are constantly becoming more efficient through office automation and best practices. I was recently involved in our nomination and subsequent awarding of the Pure Michigan Business Connect Economic Gardening Program. This resulted in tremendous press release content as well as the advantages afforded to us as a program recipient. I am also involved in a web site overhaul and have published industry related articles for “Michigan Home and Lifestyle”.

Working with a Board of Directors consisting of 12 local business leaders, I am responsible for the betterment of the business community, the enhancement of the community at large, and the improvement of tourism and economic development for the area. I reside on several committees and task forces and have been responsible for several events during my recent tenure. I have improved the communications systems through the use of “e-blasts” and am in the process of overhauling the web site to modernize it and fit it in with our Pure Michigan advertising strategy. I am familiar with the grant writing process and maintain all of the business systems with the aid of a revolving volunteer staff. I was active with the following: East Tawas Business Association Tawas City Business Association Tawas Bay Tourist and Convention Bureau Develop Iosco Sunrise Coastal Coalition Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals Michigan Festivals and Events AssociationI have also facilitated strategic planning sessions for the development and future growth of the Chamber.

While at Magline, Inc., I was instrumental in implementing and supporting our second-tier business management system. This involved hardware and software selection, installation, implementation, and of course end-user training and support. At Magline I also supported over 120 personal computers, 11 servers, and the supporting network and security infrastructure. I am also experienced with IBM and HP mainframes and have worked with both as recently has five years ago. I have written and maintained all of Magline’s policies and procedures relating to Management Information Systems and have been very involved with their continuous improvement efforts.I am well-versed in remote support, can work from home, and can travel.
