My career in geology started long ago as a child while I was filling a plastic pretzel barrel full of rocks that I had found traveling with my family all over the country. The different colors, shapes, and hardness fascinated me and would later evolve into a career passion surrounding the geology that makes up our world. Presently I use analysis of mineral content, fractures, and changes in lithology to determine pathways for groundwater and potential contamination to travel through an aquifer. My favorite field activity by far is setting up next to a drill rig and logging rock from boreholes across a project site. It is really interesting to see the way a stratigraphic unit fluctuates from borehole to borehole even within a short distance. Previously I had the opportunity to run the Mount Sopris Borehole Geophysics winch in a variety of lithologies throughout the eastern United States, and l was proficient in collecting highly detailed data with the tools to produce a product for clients to have the complex geologic systems on their sites illuminated in way that was not before possible. As I progress in my career in geology I am able to utilize previous experiences and guidance to make valuable interpretations and possess a higher level of determination while in the field and the office.
