Co-Founder and Senior Partner at Solis Marine Consultants (www.solis-marine.com) and a Younger Brother of London Trinity House. Solis was established in 2012 to provide expert marine and naval architectural advice on maritime incidents, including; collisions, groundings, unsafe ports / berths, personal injury, anchor damage to pipelines and cargo damage, securing and loss. The partners and consultants have given expert evidence in Court and the founders are both on the Lloyd's panel of Special Casualty Representatives (SCR's), as is the General Manager of the Solis Singapore office, Captain Ken Ellam.He has acted as a nautical assessor to the High Court, Hong Kong and given expert evidence during Admiralty, Criminal and Civil cases in the District Court of Hong Kong, District Court of Kalianda - Indonesia, District Court of Haifa - Israel and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Canada. He has also given expert evidence in London Arbitration.His experience as a pilot and master has been used to provide expert advice and reports relating to claims involving unsafe port and berths, manoeuvring issues particularly with tugs, collisions, groundings, damage to sub-sea pipelines, personal injury, navigation issues and cargo loss during heavy weather. A particular specialisation has been with cases involving the criminalisation of seafarers.Has be appointed and attended salvage incidents as an SCR, also complex wreck removals as the representative of insurers and owners throughout the oil and pollutant transfer, cargo transport and storage and final hull removal phases. Areas of operation includes Europe, Asia and South America.
